Looking In the Mirror

"Looking in the mirror what do I see someone very special looking back at me" so the little children's song goes, but wait just a cotton picking minute here, that's not the reflection I see when looking in the mirror, all I see is all the imperfections, every blemish, every hair out of place, over tired, run down me!" so I hear so many say. We can be governed by our appearances, what we see in the mirror, what we rehearse in our minds of how others see us OR governed by what the Word of God says about us. In Psalms 139:14 ~ "I praise You for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Your works are wonderful, I know that full well." If you are a young mom you might ask, "How can I be fearfully and wonderfully made when I haven't had a full nights sleep in a week, I have jelly on my clothes from little hands, cleaning up dirty diapers, wiping snotty noses, and every time I turn around I'm tripping on toys that I just picked up moments ago?" If you are a Soccer (or other sports) Mom on the run balancing work, school schedules, sports schedules, church responsibilities, birthday parties, friends, in the midst of juggling everyone else's schedule how can I really be fearfully and wonderfully made? The good news today is, regardless of how hectic our lives as ladies are, nothing can change God's intended purpose for us. HE knew before we were "created in the inward parts" (verse 15) what our life choices would bring us. HE knew we would find ourselves in hovels, mobile homes, apartment buildings, single family, blended family, mortgage carrying homes before we did. HE knew that life would get haggled at times and HE knew we would be where we are today, questioning our own beauty, inner beauty and the external - the face everyone else gets to see. HE knew we might have days where we would be totally and terrifically unhappy with ourselves. And HE knew we would need HIM to come along side of us and to remind us through HIS Word that HE will never leave us. HE will never forsake us or give us more than we can bear. HE knew HIS plan for us provides for "all our needs" (Philippians 4:19) even when to us HE seems distant and un-involved. HE is there with us in the midst of every situation waiting for us to call on HIM because HIS grace will carry us through (2 Corinthians 12:9). I know it's true! Young moms, I have been there. Sleepless nights - like in terms of six years with an asthmatic child, busy ministry life, home-schooling mom whose house needed to be clean when dad got home from work and I exhausted. I know first hand working moms, professional women, busy schedule, home life, church life, care-giver that nothing I am going through can ultimately separate me from HIS loving support. NOTHING! Ladies, be encouraged, this season isn't going to last forever, regardless of what life seems like today, there is a Savior called JESUS who ever lives to make intercession for us ~ Hebrews 7:25 "Therefore HE is able to save completely those who come to GOD through HIM, because HE always lives to intercede for them." Can you imagine right now if you were still looking in that mirror what you might experience if in that moment you looked at you the way your Heavenly Father looks at you. Not with rose colored glasses, but with eyes of wonderment, eyes beaming with such intensely wonderful love expressed for "just you" HIS daughter, created in HIS image. Zephaniah 3:17 "for the LORD your GOD is living among you, HE is a mighty Savior. He will take delight in you with gladness. With HIS love, HE will calm all your fears. HE will rejoice over you with joyful songs." Whatever view you have from your mirror be it in your bathroom, bedroom, in your car as you prep just before walking into the office know that HIS view of you is what really counts. Go live out today, not in the slump you thought you might experience, but with joy for I know and you can experience too that HIS joy is your strength. Psalms 28:7 "The LORD is my strength and shield. I trust HIM with all my heart. HE helps me, and my heart is filled with joy. I burst out in songs of thanksgiving." Be blessed for you really are fearfully and wonderfully made.

"I'm surrounded by GOD's favor." Psalms 5:12
